Trinity

Renovation

The renovation of Trinity Church holds a special place in the heart of the architect. Leah Watters first visited the coast with her parents in 2005, 2 weeks following Hurricane Katrina. She never could have known in the photo in front of the damaged church, that she and her builder-father, Matt McBride would be asked to renovate this church in 2009. It was a labor of love between father and daughter, and Leah’s brother, Jesse McBride as well - the first project that bore Leah’s stamp, and the largest of her father’s by far. The church was lifted 12’ in order to anticipate the pending flood map changes. When the building settled back down, it was clad in SIPs (Structural Insulated Panels) for strength and energy conscientiousness. When Tyler Watters proposed to Leah in 2011, it was only fitting that the couple was married in Trinity Church.
